What the launcher does

The launcher is a voluntary community tool for the Varga-Tech Windrose MAIN mod server. It only uses functions needed for chat, server status, mod sync, start gate and optional Autoconnect/UE4SS features.

Important: No hidden UE4SS installation: Autoconnect / UE4SS is synchronized only if the player consents or runs it once. If “do not allow” is selected, nothing is written to R5\Binaries\Win64.

Consent and sync settings can be changed anytime in the launcher under Privacy & Sync Settings.

How to use the launcher correctly

Download and install setup
Install the current setup file on your Windows PC.

Confirm privacy / usage
On first start, sync, chat, mod folder and optional UE4SS/Autoconnect are explained.

Check sync settings
Startup sync, exact server mod matching and UE4SS/Autoconnect consent can be changed anytime.

Run required mod sync
The launcher synchronizes R5\Content\Paks\~mods with the Varga-Tech mod list.

Start Windrose
The start button is unlocked when the required mods have been checked successfully.

Why mod sync matters

Without current Varga-Tech MAIN server mods, problems can occur:

wrong or missing textures
wrong ingame content
outdated mod files
connection problems
client/server compatibility errors

Required for the MAIN mod server: if you want to play on windrose-vargatech.de, keep the required mod sync active.

Sync settings

Mod sync is controllable

The current launcher version no longer synchronizes automatically every 30 minutes. Players can consciously control synchronization in the launcher.

Startup sync

Can be enabled or disabled. If disabled, the launcher starts without an automatic mod check.

Exact server matching

Can be enabled so non-matching local mods in the ~mods folder are handled safely.

Manual sync

Mod sync can be started manually anytime in the Mods section.

Autoconnect / UE4SS

Optional and only with consent

Autoconnect / UE4SS is an optional feature. It is not installed secretly.

Allow

Autoconnect / UE4SS may be synchronized. Existing files are backed up first.

Do not allow

Nothing is written to R5\Binaries\Win64.

Run once

Runs the sync once without changing permanent consent.

Backup: If existing dwmapi.dll or ue4ss must be replaced, the launcher creates a backup first in R5\Binaries\Win64\_VargaTech_Backup\.

Important: Ingame join/leave names only work if the server status API provides player names. If only player counts are available, the launcher can show the count but not individual names.

Leave server

Leave Varga-Tech server / clean mods

If a player no longer wants to play on the Varga-Tech Windrose MAIN mod server, the launcher provides a dedicated cleanup function.

Use only if you really want to leave the Varga-Tech server. The mods are required for the MAIN mod server.

Afterwards:

sync is stopped
a notice window is shown
launcher closes
uninstaller starts if available
